Mont St. Michel and Normandy

When my parents came to visit, we started our road trip driving from Paris to Mont St. Michel. This is Mom and me before going in. Doug and Mom.
The view as we were leaving. Then we went to Bayeux where we stayed for two days. Such a cute town!
The cathedral there is really pretty. And Bayeux is close to the D-Day beaches and a lot of WWII leftover stuff. This is a church that suffered damage during the war and has since been restored. You can see in the blown-up photo in front of the church how it looked during the war.
We went to the American Cemetery and I finally caught my Moby Dick! Every other time I've been there (and how many times does one go to Normandy in one's life, really?) it's been closed. But I finally got to go. It's hard to say a cemetery is "nice" or anything, but it was good to see it and read about all the WWII stuff in the visitors center. Another view in the cemetery.
Then as we were driving along, Doug noticed a sign for "Batteries des Longues" and wanted to check it out. Turns out it was a bunch of abandoned bunkers. So Mom and I helped defend the beach. (Yes, I do know we're dorks)
